[Simplifying the scripture one thought at a time]
Recommended reading:
Psalm 119:9-16 ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ๐
Today’s scripture quote:
Psalm 119:11 “Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You.”
Setting the stage:
The best phase of life is period of youthfulness. Along with youthful days come strong passions๐ฅ towards things which are not approved by God. At times we become victims of those temptations and fall into sin.๐คฆ๐คฆโโ๏ธ๐คฆโโ๏ธ๐ฅ Then comes the guilt feelings. God desires to save us from such painful feelings. Today’s scripture reading will guide us how to avoid falling in sin.
Interpretation:
Our heartsโฅ๏ธ are never empty. They are full of so many things. “For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.” (Matthew 15:19) How can we get rid of these things. The only way is to replace it with something far better. The most wonderful replacement is the “WORD OF GOD“.๐๐ฃ๏ธ The psalmist decided to store God’s word in his heartโฅ๏ธ so that he could avoid committing sin against God.
Lessons learnt:
(1) Treasure God’s words in your heart,โฅ๏ธ
(2) God’s words will help you to prevent sin.
Application:
What are you treasuring in your heart?โฅ๏ธ Today once again God is encouraging๐ฃ๏ธ us to pay attention to his powerful word.๐ May God enable us not to neglect his word rather meditate on it as and when possible.
Illustration:
When Lord Jesus was tested by Satan๐, he had only one answer to all his temptations. That answer was, “it is written.” ๐(Matthew 4:4,7,10) What will you reply to the tempter when he attacks you with a strong temptation? May we learn to use the word of God๐ to its maximum potential.
Prayer for today:
Dear Lord Jesus, I thank you for this wonderful day. I am also thankful for your eternal words of wisdom. Help me Lord to meditate on your words more. Help me to treasure your words in my heart. โฅ๏ธ I pray in your sweet name. ๐๐๐
