“Run away from lusts” 🏃🏃‍♀️

Yesterday we thought about the importance of storing God’s words in our hearts.♥️

Today’s thought:

We are living in the world which is full of things which arouse different instincts. We are warned about various lusts in the scripture. (1John2:16) We feel a strong pull to go after those things to have them. Today’s scripture 📜will guide us through this spiritual struggle.🎯

Today’s scripture:

2 Timothy 2:22 Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.♥️

Interpretation:

Paul was writing to the young leader, Timothy. Paul cautioned about the spiritual trap of strong youthful desires which are contrary to godliness. Paul encouraged Timothy not to linger around when tempted but to run away from it. He told him to run after godly attributes such as righteousness, faith, love and peace by having fellowship with fellow Christians who pray to the Lord with a clean heart.♥️

Lessons learnt:

(1) Don’t test your resistance against temptation, 🤼‍♂️
(2) It’s more wiser to run than to wait until you are trapped, 🐍
(3) run after godly attributes, 🏃
(4) fellowship with fellow Christians does provide spiritual safety. ⛑️

Application:

How would you deal with temptations? Would you like stay for a little more time Or would you choose to flee as soon as possible? We have to make this choice when we are tempted. May God help us to make the best choice. 🤔

Illustration:

(1) Joseph when tempted he left his garment and fled away. (Genesis 39:13) Joseph became the iconic example of all those who flee from temptation. God richly rewarded him. He became prime minister of Egypt. 👑

(2) David when tempted pursued his own desires and landed in sin. (2 Samuel 11:4 ) He became a bad example. He lost his loved ones as a punishment.😦

Prayer for today:

Dear Lord Jesus, I thank you for this beautiful day. Lord you know my weaknesses. Help me to run away from sinful situations and to run to safety which is available in fellowship with fellow Christians. I pray in your sweet name. Shalom dear friend. Thanks for reading.
