Numbering days

What were your feelings when someone called you uncle or aunt for the first time? 😐 Few years ago I had strange feelings when a young man greeted me as, “Hello uncle” first time. 🤨 I was used to be referred to as uncle by little children. It didn’t bother me. But this greeting was annoying😡 however to avoid hurting this young man, I did accept the greetings with a big smile. 😁

Proverbs 16:31 A gray head is a crown of glory; It is found in the way of righteousness.

All this while I considered myself as a young handsome guy.👦 Suddenly someone made me aware that I am no longer same. 👴 As I observed myself in the mirror, I began to notice greying of hair. Then I understood that my grey hair prompted this young man to call me UNCLE merely out of respect.

Psalm 90:12 So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.

With reference to the above scripture quote, I decided to do some calculations. I actually numbered my days on the earth. I have spent more than16000 days on the face of the earth.

I began recounting things I have been through. I remembered good and bad days, Success and failures, times of obedience and disobedience, so on. I am grateful to the Lord Jesus for being with me and not giving up on me. I have failed him often but he wouldn’t let me go away. He sought me and brought me back home. He has been my shepherd and guide. I tried counting his blessings, I couldn’t as they are innumerable.

I also thought of future. The future is as always uncertain. I don’t know how many more days to count. I have only one desire.

Philippians 3:13-14 ……. one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

I desire to be of some help to my Lord Jesus and people around me. I would like to help whomever Lord Jesus is sending to me. I am weak and limited in many ways. But asking God to give me grace to reach out to people more and more. I rededicate my life to the service of Lord and people around me.
