What is in the name?

Our names are very much special to each one of us. It is our personal identity. We feel totally offended if our names are misspelt or wrongly pronounced. Nobody would be comfortable with making fun of their names or surnames. It’s absolutely fine to feel this way as our names are very dear to all of us.

Surnames are our heritage that is passed on to us by our parents. It is something we are proud of. Although there could be some exceptions to this.

Some people prefer to be called out by their first name, some by the last. Some may like to be identified by their profession.

Some have an excellent nick name whereas some bad nick name. Our names have meanings. We may or may not realise it. If you do a thorough research on the origin and meaning of your name, it is going to be a great surprise for you.

I believe that names have little bit prophesy hidden in it. Let me give you an example.

Genesis 5:27 So all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died.

You know this famous character from the Bible. Mr Methuselah is known for his long lifespan. He was also grand father of Noah. Methuselah means: (Hebrew: מְתוּשֶׁלַח‬, Methushelah “Man of the dart/spear”, or alternatively “his death shall bring judgment“). (Source Wikipedia)

Noah was 600 years old when flood came. Probably Methuselah died at that time. Similarly God calls us by our names.

Isaiah 43:1 But now, thus says the LORD, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!

Lord Jesus Christ has a wonderful name. His Hebrew name is Yehoshua which means, Yehovah is salvation.

Dear friend, Jesus Christ had only one name, “Jesus of Nazareth.” His surname is not documented. He loved to refer himself as “Son of man.” Which means an ordinary son of ordinary man.

He was no pastor/Preacher or any other credit. He was a beloved Rabbi to his disciples. Although he had no honour in this world yet he received higher honour after his resurrection.

Philippians 2:10 so that at the name of Jesus every KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

May Lord help each of us to be proud of whatever name God has called us with. May we live upto the name we are called unto.

May God bless you with these bytes. Sending with love. 😊🙏♥️
