The Earth has a 4.6 billion year history. However, Archaic Homo Sapiens (Modern Humans) evolved between 400,000 and 250,000 years ago. This is a scientific explanation of human origin. So sorry for appearing like a professor of a science class.π
In simple words, I would like to draw your attention to the origin of humans as described in the scripture. Adam was created from dust of the earth. The earth in Hebrew is called Admah.
Genesis 2:7 Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
Adam was created by God from the dust of the ground. This is the origin of humans. The next logical question is where do we land at the end of life.
Genesis 3:19 By the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return.”
God emphatically informed Adam that you will return to the place of origin. God told Adam, YOU ARE DUST. No one likes to be called dust. But the reality is human beings are dust.
God told him, you will return to dust because you are dust. You will say that, “Oh nothing is great in this fact, everyone knows this.” I know.
I am bringing up this topic for a good reason. We are tempted to think great about us, much more that what actually we are. So when pride knocks on your heart and mind, remind your heart and mind, “I am a dust.” The pride will be reduced to dust.
Sin of pride is the first sin documented in the scripture. It is the only sin which is very difficult to get rid off. When you get over it one time, you will soon discover that it is resurfacing again and again.
What does God thinks when he looks at us? This is what psalmist acknowledges.
Psalm 103:14 For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.
God understands that we are dust but humans don’t remember that they are dust.
Prayer: Dear Lord, you know our frame as you have created us. Lord help us to live in this reality. Help us not to be filled with pride rather make us humble. We ask this prayer in the sweetest name of your son Jesus Christ.
Shalom.ποΈ
