Hi people,
This is Bible blogger again.
Old fashioned
I have a feeling that, saying “God bless you” is going out of fashion. Whenever someone says God bless you, people look at you as if you have descended from another planet.
Blessings promoter
I am a strong promoter of saying this blessing. In a culture where I am residing, it is customary to invoke a blessing in return of any service or favour.
Privilege to bless
It is definitely an age old practice to bless others. It is customary in my culture that elders usually privileged to bless the young generation. How truly it is in line with the Holy scripture.
Romans 12:14 NASBS
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
A command to bless
Paul sternly instructed Roman Christian community to bless. Even if someone is persecuting you, you are duty bound to reciprocate with a blessing. Do not curse in return. What an amazing teaching. In my reading, I have not come across such a teaching in any other book.
How do I bless others?
You will ask me. How do I bless? Read below.
Numbers 6:24-27 NASBS
The LORD bless you, and keep you; [25] The LORD make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; [26] The LORD lift up His countenance on you, And give you peace.’ [27] So they shall invoke My name on the sons of Israel, and I then will bless them.β
Aaron’s blessing
This was a command given to the first high priest, Mr Aaron to invoke this blessing on the children of Israel. Each and every word of this blessing is so touching.
Simple meaning
Keep you, means asking God to preserve your soul.Make his face shine means that the Lord may be favourable to you. May Lord be gracious to you. May the Lord delight in you and grant you peace.
What a great blessing!
Do this for everyone
So, bless everyone you encounter today. Let none go away without receiving Lord’s blessings.
God will bless
The Lord said that you will do this in my name and I will bless them. God is going to bless those whom Aaron was going to bless. May Lord bless everyone whom you bless. Don’t allow course to proceed from your mouth.
James 3:9-10 NASBS
With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; [10] from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way.
Exclusive blessings
Curse and blessings can not be allowed to come out of our mouths. Only blessings.
