2 Kings 2:14 NASBS
He(Elisha) took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him and struck the waters and said, “Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the waters, they were divided here and there; and Elisha crossed over.
Goosebumps
What was your reaction after reading this Bible quote,? When I read this I developed goosebumps. Although this incident took place many centuries ago but it is still impacting lives.
Mantle
Mantle of Elijah had no inherited property. Elijah was a great prophet of the Lord and the Lord’s presence was always manifested in him. This why the mantle was so powerful in the hands of GOD’S own chosen prophets who were bestowed upon with God’s power.
Striking
Elijah and Elisha had to crossed the Jordan river. Elijah struck the river with his mantle and water got divided and they walked on the dry river bed.
Passing the mantle
When Elijah was taken to heaven, Elijah’s mantle fell down. It didn’t fell by error. It was passed on to Elisha. Elisha was the servant of Elijah. Elijah called him by covering him with his mantle.
God is with Elisha
Now it was Elisha’s job and responsibility to guide the people of Israel. Elisha knew that God had granted him the double portion of the spirit. He proved that spirit was in Elisha by striking the water and dividing it exactly as was done by Elijah.
The spirit of power
Dear friend, God also given us the spirit.
2 Timothy 1:7 NASBS
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.
So go forth not as a timid person but as the prophet of the Lord. Be brave.
Have you ever prayed for double portion of the spirit of Lord?
God bless you with these words.
Shalom 🕊️ from the Bible blogger.😇🙏
If we as Christians lived in all that is ours through Jesus Christ, I believe we would see a different world than we see.

Amen. Thanks for reading and responding. You are correct. May God enable us to mentor next generation in such manner that they may take up the spiritual authority available in Christ Jesus. Very well said. God bless you.
