Good day dear friends.
Welcome back to Our Daily Bible Bytes. Apologies for the little longer Blog.
I am your host, Bible blogger ππ
Tough job
Praying is a tough job. I am still struggling to pray. I have problems with long prayers. I just can’t manage long prayers.
Important
But I know that praying is very important. Without prayer I will be defeated. I will lack all the essential means to live for Christ.
Historical prayers
I love certain portions of the scripture which inform us about how people in prayed in the past and God answered them amazingly.
Praying Hannah
One of such prayer is the prayer of Hannah. I am aware that there are millions of blogs written about prayer of Hannah. It simply shows, that this prayer is still impacting many people.
Let us read about her prayer from the original source that is the Holy Bible.
1 Samuel 1:11 NASBS
She made a vow and said, “O LORD of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a son, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and a razor shall never come on his head.”
Meaningful prayer
Can you comprehend the depth of this prayer. I am totally impressed and convicted by this prayer. I call her prayer as the “smart” prayer. I am not referring to the smartness according to worldly standard.
Rough period
I call it smart because of significant reasoning. During Hannah’s times, the spiritual condition of Israel was in a very bad shape.
Judges 21:25 NASBS
In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
Anarchy prevailed
There was no authority available to oversee the people. The nation was drifting away from the Lord.
Barrenness
Hannah was a barren, and she was quite affected by this barrenness.
1 Samuel 1:10 NASBS
She, greatly distressed, prayed to the LORD and wept bitterly.
She prayed with great distress and tears.
1 Samuel 1:11 NASBS
will give Your maidservant a son, b then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life,
Son & servant
She prayed for a son. She was in need of a child but she prayed specifically for a male child. She wanted a boy so that she could give him back to the Lord for His service. What a great thought. How many mom’s would be able to do this?
National need
She smartly converted her own personal need into peoples need. People were in great need of a prophet. She also converted her need into God’s need. God had no true and faithful servant left in the nation of Israel.
1 Samuel 1:28 NASBS
So I have also dedicated him to the LORD; as long as he lives he is dedicated to the LORD.” And he worshiped the LORD there.
Beneficiaries
She got the answer for her prayer. She received her first son, nation Israel got their first prophet and God received a fantastic servant to carry forward his work in Israel.
God continue to bless Hannah, she bore many more children.
1 Samuel 2:21 NASBS
The LORD visited Hannah; and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. And the boy Samuel grew before the LORD.
May God bless us through this meditation on the word.
