The hunt
The various business houses are always in constant search of best skills and talents. They travel across the globe in search of individuals with such calibre. Once they find one of its kind they immediately offer good packages in order to employ that individual.
Inconsistency
Suppose, after the employment the individual consistently not performing well. Instead he turned out to be a liability. What do you think the organisation will do with this guy? I am sure that you would agree with me that he would be fired from the job.
The disciples
Jesus Christ when he was walking on this earth was running a tiny little Bible school. He had a small bunch of 12 students. They were of different ages and backgrounds. Some were fishermen, some tax collectors, etc.
Peter
He had a most brilliant student, his name was Peter Simon. He was a most daring disciple. At the same time he was quick to respond to any question and situation. He was very promising disciple. Everyone thought that one day he would be the best team leader.
The test
He was tested for his faithfulness. His test was predicted by Lord Jesus Christ himself.
Luke 22:31-32 NASBS
“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; [32] but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”
The test was, Simon will have to identify himself with his master and teacher Jesus Christ in front of everyone. Jesus was falsely accused and condemned to death.
Failure
Simon was a bit a overconfident employee. He said that even if he has to die he will not deny Jesus. He failed the test miserably. He denied Jesus Christ not only once but thrice. It’s not only him but I have denied Jesus some times in my life as well.π°
Reinstated
After the death and resurrection Jesus Christ appeared to Peter. Everyone thought that Jesus Christ has given up on Peter. Jesus Christ shocked everyone. He not only pardoned him, he also appointed him as the shepherd over the first church in the history.
John 21:17 NASBS
He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Tend My sheep.”
Appreciation
If I was in the place of Jesus Christ, I would have fired Peter for deserting his boss and organisation. Jesus Christ doesn’t approach like how we approach. He knew that one day Peter is going to be a great blessing to his organisation. Peter is still appreciated and respected all over the world since last 2000 years. Jesus Christ is still hiring people.
Confidence
The reason behind the success of Peter’s life is the great confidence of Jesus Christ in Peter that he is a great employee. How are you dealing with your fellow employees? How are you dealing with fellow members of your family, friends, church or any other organisations?
May God help us to have patience towards others as Jesus Christ has towards us.

Thank you for your article. The reason why we make mistakes in hiring and firing people it is because we do not see things thru the eyes of God. We evaluate people and circumstances as relating to the present moment. God is Spirit and He is eternal. He not only sees the future but He is able to create the future. He also changes the hearts of men. That is ‘the advantage’ of God over us. By His Word he creates new things. For example, this is His Word: “God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable (can never be withdrawn; are without repentance)… God does not change His mind about whom He chooses and blesses… God doesn’t take back the gifts He has given or disown the people He has chosen” (Rom 11:29; different translations). To me, The Lord Jesus Christ is not only my Savior and Lord. He is my Boss. In the past, working for men or even for myself, has never brought the peace I now have, as I work for the Lord! He is the most excellent Boss. By His Spirit He teaches, encourages and chastises me. Most of this work is done in the quietness and shadows of His wings. He does not promote me to visibility until I am ready to withstand the pressure coming from others who are jealous over my gifts. I love Peter because like him, I made mistakes and I was called back to loving once more. God bless you friend!
