Childhood is the most beautiful phase of life. During that phase, the world seems like a big play ground. The worries of the present don’t bother. The future doesn’t make sense. It’s a wonderful phase of life. My daughter who is going to be teenage wants to become a child again.
I think many of us would like to change the course of our lives. We would like to reverse the life and we can go backwards from adults to children and enjoy those childhood days. Free from all the stressors of adulthood.
Often Jesus Christ says something in the scripture and it boggles my mind. The God’s kingdom rules are exactly opposite to the rules of this world. If someone is childish in this world, will be harshly rebuked for such behaviour.
See what Jesus Christ had to say about the children.
Matthew 19:14 NASBS
But Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Jesus likes children
Jesus Christ was bit upset with His disciples as they were preventing children from coming close to Jesus. He said don’t do it. Let them come, the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. Wow! What a profound statement!
Matthew 18:3-4 NASBS
and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
This is another peculiar thing Jesus Christ mentioned. He said that there is a great need for us to be transformed into children. What did He mean? He was referring to the humility and innocence of children. We need to have humility to admit our limitations and innocence to avoid sin.
1 Corinthians 13:11 NASBS
When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
Paul mentioned about childish behaviour. Christ is not calling us to be childish but rather to be child like when it comes to our relationship with God. We have to humble ourselves like a child before God and be the son or daughter of God when we encounter the enemy (Satan).
God wants us to be transformed into a child who takes God at his word. A child is teachable. At the same time he expects us to be spiritual adults when we think about the spiritual discernment so that we can differentiate between right and wrong.
We need to introspect. Are we becoming child like in regards to humility and trust in the Lord? Are we exercising sonship when we think about our spiritual authority?
May God encourage you with these thoughts.
