Hi friends.
Sleep addiction
I am a great fan of sleep. If I am given an opportunity to sleep, I will have no difficulty to remain sleeping for many hours. This type of love for sleep can be troublesome.
Laziness
Spending too much time in bed is a sign of laziness. The lazy person seeks more excuses for sleeping. There is one quote in proverbs 24:33-34. It describes the habits of a lazy person. The lazy person is slack towards his own work. He postpones his jobs.
Consequences of laziness
The scripture warns that such kind of laziness will invite poverty. Suppose, a farmer doesn’t do his job in the due time, then he will never have grains for the off season. He will be pushed in to poverty.
Proverbs 24:33-34 NASBS
“A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest,” [34] Then your poverty will come as a robber And your want like an armed man.
Fight laziness
Therefore, we have to fight against our own self. We have to wrestle against our own laziness. Paul took a decision to discipline his own body and bring it under control. We have to work hard to keep our own passions under tight control.
1 Corinthians 9:27 NASBS
but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
May God help us to achieve this goal in this new year.
Abundant blessings dear friend.
I welcome your comments.
Same here… sometimes I spend 14-16 hours out of 24 in the bed.😇😇

I can relate to this one. I enjoy sleep too and would often choose that over other things. We do need rest, but sometimes we use it to avoid responsibility and other life necessities.

I USED TO ENJOY MY SLEEP—NW HAVE A LOT ON MY MIND, APPARENTLY! SOME MEDICAL ISSUES, TOO. THE WIFE HAS NEVER CALLED ME LAZY—STUBBORN, YES, BUT LAZY—NO!

I have always had insomia and this in much of family. Worked nights because of this, and this is chonic sleep deprivation. only slept 5 or less hours all my life and the same now. One of family has no sleep ability at all. She sees a sleep specialist . so do I. When I retired it got worse and has continued. Now I don’t sleep with out an aid. This is just as sad as the other. As a retired nurse, I would recommend seeing a Dr. . There is a chronic condition called narcolepsy. And prayer by all people like us. Ty. :))

Yes! I’m glad someone is being honest here that I can relate to lol. Sometimes I wake up and don’t get up right away. Or I’ll spend hours on my phone or pc doing unproductive things. I know the word says that there’s a time for everything but I feel the urge to get busy. I don’t want to waste any more time. But it is a struggle. A daily one! Thank you for sharing.

Great post . I loved the quote too.
You know, my problem is – I can’t sleep more than 7-8 hours in a day, Even if I wish.
