A selfless prayer

I am disgusted with my selfishness. Selfishness to certain extent is necessary. I find an obsession to fulfill my own needs. Day and night I am only concerned about my family’s needs.

Often, we are preoccupied with self and own families. This causes us to forget outside world. This is so true with praying.

As a child I was taught to pray for blessings. I prayed thousand times, “God to bless me and my family.” God blessed me much more than I deserve.

And, even today I am asking for more blessings. I hardly prayed for others. During my prayer time, it appeared as though the world seem to have disappeared. This is selfish prayer.

1 Timothy 2:1 KJVS
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.

In today’s scripture reading Paul encouraged young Timothy to pray. He distinguished various kinds of prayers. In the end it says to pray for “All men.” This is a universal prayer for all.

I need to learn to pray for everyone, regardless of their religious affiliation, caste, creed, profesion, colour, or whatever.

Today I pray for God’s choicest blessings upon you my dear friend. May the God of peace shine his face on you and fill you with peace.

Shalom 🕊️
