Hey Paul, what’s your denomination? 🤔

Before I came into faith I knew only one meaning of “the denomination.” The currency denomination. Then gradually I learnt that there are thousands of religious denominations.

Denominations exist in most of the religions of the world. I was wondering about the total number of denominations exist in Christendom, and boy it’s a staggering number.

I have noticed that people have strong sentiments associated with their own denomination. I was raised in a Bible believing denomination.

Very soon I realised that there is some disliking among the members of different denomination. I was trained to win arguments with a member of another denomination.

Gradually I understood that this is a greatest folly that I followed for a long time. I began to mingle with other denominations. I could relate to them, although we disagreed about some minor issues.

Today I feel pity on some people who are trained to boast about their denomination. I am equally guilty of being proud of my own denomination.

As I was thinking about all this and suddenly a thought flashed through my mind! What was the denomination of apostle Paul? I searched for the answer. Here it is!👇

Philippians 3:5 KJVS
Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;

Before trusting Jesus, Paul was a devout Jew, and was an elite member of a demonstration of Jews called as “Pharisee.”

Once he trusted Jesus in a miraculous way, he forsook that denomination. In fact he was excommunicated from his denomination. He had to fight the various wrong teachings prevalent in the first century church.

Galatians 6:14 NASBS
But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Paul was a non-denominational apostle, he never boasted about his own denomination or achievements. He learnt to boast only in the “cross” of Jesus Christ. It’s the place of greatest victory for any person who believes.

Dear friend, I have a question for you! Which denomination did Jesus Christ founded? Please give your feedback.

Please share your thoughts. Push like if you agree. You can give your negative comments as well. Please share it if you think it’s worthwhile.

Be blessed.

Shalom 🕊️

I was talking to a man one time about there being so many denominations. He said, “it’s just in all you want to believe.” I said, “that’s just it!” There’s one faith, one Lord and one baptism. There’s no need for all these denominations.

But it’s all in what we want to believe. We’re taught to believe in denominational doctrines and the philosophy that some people prefer cars, some trains, some bikes and airplanes etc. but we’re all heading to the same destination. No! We are not.

The world is one thing to be concerned about. However, more professing “Christians” have argued about my posts than followers of other religions that read my posts.

      2. Yes, more knowledge brings more sorrow. The knowledgeable argue but those who don’t understand the details might not be able to engage in arguments. I love it. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Thank you for posting.😊
I have seen, experienced and heard insults and personal attacks by different denominational groups, many times in front of unbelievers. Shameful.

Denominations and religious organisations are man made, causing untold confusion to so many.

Jesus prayed for spiritual unity, not organisational unity

“That they may all be one; even as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me.” (John 17:21).

True spiritual unity exists across denominational lines. As Christians we should identify with JESUS CHRIST and His gospel and not our own particular whatever denomination church we attend.
    Blessings to you.🍃🙏🍃

    1. Wow. Thanks Sonrisa for sharing your experience and thoughts. Yes, denominations have divided us instead of uniting us. Definitely, we can have our differences, yet we can choose to be united on common ground. Be blessed dear friend.

    1. So true. You can follow the denomination of your liking however you shouldn’t disregard others who follow another denomination. It’s totally unacceptable. It’s definitely not Christ like.
